Though temperamental and difficult to control, a Troll is a whirling ball of difficult-to-kill death.

Chaos Trolls (Armoured) are a Warhost of the Apocalypse Warriors of Chaos monstrous infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer with the Chaos Warriors Race Pack.

Description[ | ]

Chaos Trolls are malformed monsters whose lack of intelligence is as legendary as their great strength. Chaos Trolls are greatly feared because of their unthinking ferocity and indiscriminate appetites. Like all their kind, Chaos Trolls can vomit forth the steaming contents of their guts, dissolving their victims with powerful acids and flesh-eating worms. They are also possessed of powerful regenerative abilities: lost limbs and even heads can grow back. However, Trollflesh is extremely susceptible to the mutating power of Chaos, and Trolls who have lurked too close to the Realm of Chaos find tentacles, screaming maws and even stranger mutations sprouting from their wounds.

They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.

  • Poor Leadership: This unit suffers from poor leadership and will easily rout. Keep its flanks secure and your Lord or other encouraging units nearby.

These trolls are the exact same as standard trolls, but with higher armour (from 40 to 110). While this may not seem like a huge difference, it does quite a bit to help. Trolls are low leadership, one of the ways to lower leadership is for a unit to take damage. Armour mitigates damage, thus reducing their chances of routing, and allowing them to stay in the fight longer. Also, the more damage they mitigate through armour the more likely they can regenerate lost hitpoints without dying.

Unfortunately for the Chaos roster, they have much better monsters and monstrous infantry and do not need to babysit the Trolls leadership. The one notable advantage of the trolls is their regeneration which is the only unit on the Chaos roster that can recover hitpoints.

Armoured Trolls can often easily break through enemy infantry line and catch more fragile enemy infantry units (like missiles) and effectively engage them.
