Chosen of the Gods (Ushabti - Great Bow) are a Tomb Kings Regiment of Renown monstrous missile infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with Rise of the Tomb Kings.
Recruitment
Description
The Ushabti are large, guardian statues carved into the likeness of the gods and goddess of ancient Nehekhara, statues that stand guard and protect the perimeters of the necropolises and within the passageways of the great pyramids of the Tomb Kings. These Ushabti are imposing monuments to Nehekhara's former power, and all who pass through their shadows tremble under their unnerving and imposing sight. In times of need, the Liche Priests awaken the Ushabti with powerful incantations, and with the sound of cracking stone, the Ushabti step down from their plinths and daises, silent and ready for war. In ancient times, the living warriors of Nehekhara took great strength from the fact that the Ushabti fought alongside, for who could fail to be inspired by the physical representations of their gods marching into battle at their sides.
Attributes
- Monstrous Missile Infantry
- ▲ Shieldbreaker: This unit’s shield-breaking attacks can significantly weaken the target’s chance of blocking missile attacks.
- ▲ Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Armour-Piercing damage.
- ▲ Armour-Piercing Missiles: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
- ▲ Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
Unit Abilities
Passive Abilities
Difference from Ushabti (Great Bow)
- New Contact Effect: Shieldbreaker
- Missile Damage reduced from 111 to 109
- Cost increased from 1100 to 1300 (MP)
Strategy
Ushabti with great bows are already strong artillery like unit, the Regiment of Renown version gives them even more accuracy and firepower at a higher cost. Their missiles split in the air before their target like a cluster bomb, making them devastating and disrupting to infantry formations. That they are a higher cost means they also need to be protected by all means necessary to ensure they get maximum value from their attacks. They pair well with one or two other great bow units so they can decimate enemies before front lines meet. If it turns into a missile duel, consider stationing a Necrotect nearby with their armour and missile resistance buffs to protect them.
Trivia
- In the ancient language of Nehekhara, the name Ushabti translates literally to 'chosen of the gods'.
