Events are UI windows which pop up in campaign mode while viewing the campaign map. Some events merely notify the player of things that happened, while others may present the player with choices that can impact the campaign.
Types of events[edit | edit source]
Notifications[edit | edit source]
Notifications simply notify the player of something that happened during the campaign. For example that an enemy faction was destroyed.
Random events[edit | edit source]
Random events happen randomly to the player throughout the campaign, and have an effect but do not present the player with options/choices. Only one can happen per turn, often several turns will go without one occurring.
Random dilemmas[edit | edit source]
Dilemmas give the player a choice of two or more options with different effects.
Faction Events[edit | edit source]
These are unique events which only occur for a certain faction.
- Wild Hunt - Specific to the Wood Elves faction (but not Argwylon).
- The Dark Moon - Specific to the Beastmen race.
- The Living Ancestor - Specific to Dwarfs if the player choose Grombrindal as their starting Lord
Treasure hunts[edit | edit source]
Treasure hunts (including ruins, mysterious islands etc) were introduced in Total War: Warhammer II. These present several options with an accompanying story. Results can be good, bad or neutral. They are available to all races. They have since been removed from the game in exchange for puzzles such as the Rubric of the Old Ones, as these hunts were too randomized and arbitrary.
