Plagueclaw Catapult is a Skaven artillery unit in Total War: Warhammer II. The greatest way to deliver toxic scourge is to hurl it at the enemy from a very safe distance!

Description[edit | edit source]

It was in the Southlands that crude torsion devices first began hurling loathsome substances onto the foe during battle. The Plague Monks learned to deliver their pestilent payloads via catapult, the erupting splatter of deadly contents slaying targets in a toxic storm. Those splashed by the semi-congealed liquid find their skin simultaneously sloughing off in ruin and elsewhere erupting in glistening spores. Armour offers no protection against such a loathsome weaponry. Plagueclaw Catapults are great, wheeled scaffold-towers bearing catapults. Pushed into position by ragged Clan Pestilens acolytes, the claw-like arm of a Plagueclaw Catapult is winched back and unleashed to lob hideous death. The toxic semi-liquid leave a glowing streak across the sky as it arcs earthward.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • Armour-Piercing Missiles: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Plagueclaw Contagion: Warpstone dust and vile contagions are amongst the ingredients of this catapult’s liquid missiles, exposure to which does horrendous things to bodies and minds alike.

A solid piece of anti-infantry artillery; armor and physical resistance offer no protection against its vile, magical projectiles. When choosing a good target for the Plagueclaws, look for expensive elite infantry, preferably in great numbers so they are more likely to get hit. Enemies hit are inflicted with a leadership-reducing debuff, so concentrating the fire of multiple Plagueclaw units can cause routs very quickly. Their only real disadvantage is their large frame which makes them prime targets for counter artillery fire, so be sure to tie down enemy artillery with summoned Clanrats (Menace from Below). Also, protect them from flying units and flanking maneuvers.
