The very latest technology Clan Skryre have to offer requires a special breed of suicidal nutters to operate it effectively.

Ratling Guns are a Skaven Skaven missile infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with The Prophet and the Warlock.

Recruitment[ | ]

Description[ | ]

The Ratling Gun is perhaps the most powerful weapon Clan Skryre has ever invented, a large, multi-barrelled death-dealing machine with the potential to change the very face of warfare in the Skaven's favour. Though a relatively new and often unreliable design, the gun has nonetheless proven itself so successful that Clan Skryre simply cannot make enough to satisfy Warlord Clans' greedy demands. Powered by Warp-steam and the prodigious working of a hand crank, the six-barrelled Ratling Gun starts to spin before unleashing its deadly payload of Warpstone bullets. Commonly, the gun requires two Skaven; one to hold and crank the Warp-steam while another aims the gun forward.

Attributes[ | ]

  • Wh2 dlc11 cst specialist missile infantry Weapon Team
  • Armour-Piercing Missiles: The damage of Modifier icon armour piercingarmour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • Damage Dealer: This unit has a strong emphasis on dealing damage. If fighting it, make sure to take it out before it can get into firing or melee range.

Strategy[ | ]

Potentially the best overall damage dealing unit in the game, the Ratling Gun puts forth a stream of fire that no unit in the game can ignore whether large or small, armored or unarmored. A core of just a few Ratling Guns can grind endgame crisis armies to dust if properly protected. Due to their suppressive fire ability, reducing the speed of enemy units hit by their bullets, Ratling Guns are perfect for supporting your frontline. By using elevated terrain or a checkerboard formation with gaps in your front, let your Ratlings target anything and decimate them at leisure while they slowly wade through a hailstorm of bullets. By the time the fronts clash, your Clanrats or Stormvermin will have a much easier time standing their ground. If, of course, anyone makes it that far as they put out a frightening amount of AP damage. Be extra sure that they have clear LoS on choice targets as their awesome damage output means nothing if they can't shoot.
