Settlement options are options that players can pick after capturing a settlement on the campaign map, or when moving an army into a ruin. Settlement options can differ depending on which race you are playing.
"Razing" and "sacking" both redirect here. Please see below for what these options do.
Settlement options should not be confused with post-battle options.

Ruins[ | ]
When ruins are entered, there is the following options:
- Colonise
- This is available to all races except hordes. Creates a level 0 settlement which can be repaired. If vandalism buildings are present, then they must be demolished first. Costs money and takes troops/health from every unit in the army.
- Skaven can spend food to colonise settlements at a higher level than zero.
- Tomb Kings can spend a Ptra's Necrotect to colonise at a higher level.
- Treasure Hunt / Search Ruins
- This option was added in Total War: Warhammer II. Armies/lords can now treasure hunt, getting a choose-your-own adventure style event which can result in positive, neutral or negative outcomes.
- The treasure hunts were later removed and replaced with several puzzles in the Aye-Aye! Patch:
- Do nothing
- Armies can leave without doing anything.
