The Bordermen (Outriders (Grenade Launchers)) are an Empire Elector Count State Troops missile cavalry unit from Marienburg.

Description[edit | edit source]

Uniquely amongst Aldred von Carroburg’s armies, the Bordermen preferred life in the gnat-infested wilds than in the comfort of the Reikland barracks. They took great relish in hunting down the mutant tribes that haunted the marshes with their wondrous repeater handguns, cantering away should the enemy get too close before cutting down another swathe of foes. With their guns fired in anger almost every day, the Bordermen were experienced and reliable troops indeed.

Attributes[edit | edit source]

  • Armour-Piercing Missiles: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.
  • Can't Attack Air: Some ranged weapons, like grenade launchers, bombs or blasting charges, can't target airborne units.
  • Vanguard Deployment: This unit can deploy in an expanded deployment area, allowing it to start the battle within striking distance of the enemy - or somewhere unexpected.

The benefit of this unit over the standard unit is a much higher armour piercing damage. This changes their role from an anti-lightly armoured infantry to an anti-everything role. They can deal great damage in a short amount of time although large numbers of clumped up enemies will always be where they are most effective.
