Vargheists is a Vampire Counts flying melee monstrous infantry unit in Total War: Warhammer. A Vampire reduced and twisted to savagery, Vargheists swoop in from above and rip battle lines to pieces.

Description

Vargheists are the darkness in a Vampire's soul made manifest. They are towering winged humanoids, each several times the size of a man. Though the Vargheists once walked and talked as lords amongst the chattel, these curse-born Vampires have devolved into ravenous predators desperate for the taste of blood. They prowl the battlefield in packs, ready to pounce upon the least sign of weakness and tear a hole in the enemy ranks with crimson claw and bloody fang.

Abilities

  • Damage Dealer: This unit has a strong emphasis on dealing damage. If fighting it, make sure to take it out before it can get into firing or melee range.
  • Frenzy: Units with Wh main unit passive frenzyfrenzy cause more damage while their Morale characterleadership is high.

The original shock cavalry of the sky, Vargheists hit hard and cause a lot of damage but are relatively squishy. They are best for dealing a devestating blow to enemy infantry or archers before fleeing. Frenzy augments their melee attack and damage values even higher, so long as they have solid Leadership. Avoid ranged fire as they are large targets and have next to no armour. Vargheists can be useful as part of a greater airforce. Meaning they either have fell bats to support them and tie down ranged units who would whittle the Vargheists down, or are the support to a flying lord who can tie down other flying combatants.
