Vows and Troths is a campaign feature added to all Bretonnian factions in the Doomsayers Update for Total War: Warhammer II.

Vows and Troths replace the previous method of reducing upkeep for Bretonnian knight units, which required skill points to be invested into specific traits within the skill tree. The new system allows Bretonnian characters to complete specific tasks throughout a campaign to unlock the vows associated with reduced upkeep, and are available immediately upon character recruitment. Vows are available to Bretonnian Lords and Paladins, while troths are available to Bretonnian Prophetesses and Damsels.
All Bretonnian knights units will have their upkeep increased by 200% until their Lord complete the vow corresponding to the unit.

Vows are available to Bretonnian Lords and Paladins. For each vow, a character must choose one of three pledges to pursue on the campaign order to unlock its benefits. Once the pledge has been completed, that vows rewards will be unlocked.
Lord Vows[ | ]
Knight's Vow
- Pledge to Knowledge: Research 5 technologies while leading an army
- Pledge to Order: Be present in a region 5 times when a building completes construction
- Pledge to Chivalry: Rank up five times after taking the pledge
Rewards:
- Upkeep greatly reduced for: Knights Errant, Knights of the Realm, Pegasus Knights
- Leadership aura size: +25%
- Untainted: +3 (local province)
Questing Vow
- Pledge to Campaign: Win a siege battle in a desert or jungle climate region
- Pledge to Manaan: Win a battle at sea
- Pledge to Protect: Defeat a Beastmen, Greenskin, or Dark Elf Legendary Lord
Rewards:
- Upkeep greatly reduced for: Questing Knights (Lord's army)
- Weapon strength: +10%
- Campaign movement range: +10%
Grail Vow
- Pledge to Untaint: Defeat a Legendary Lord of Warriors of Chaos, Skaven, Vampire Counts, or Vampire Coast
- Pledge to Valor: Kill 5 enemy Lords in battle
- Pledge to Destroy: Raze 5 major settlements
Rewards:
- Upkeep greatly reduced for: Grail Knights, Grail Guardians, Royal Pegasus Knights, Royal Hippogryph Knights (Lord's army)
- When normally killed in battle, this Lord will be wounded instead
- Wound recovery time: -1
- Enables magical attacks
- Attribute: Perfect Vigour
Paladin Vows[ | ]
- Knight's Vow
- Pledge to Duty: Successfully complete 5 agent actions
- Pledge to Chivalry: Rank up five times after taking the pledge
Rewards:
- Armor: +5
- Leadership: +5
Questing Vow
- Pledge to Campaign: Win a siege battle in a desert or jungle climate region
- Pledge to Manaan: Win a battle at sea
- Pledge to Protect: Defeat a Beastmen, Greenskin, or Dark Elf Legendary Lord
Rewards:
- Melee defence: +5
- Melee attack: +5
Grail Vow
Rewards:
- When normally killed in battle, this Lord will be wounded instead
- Enables magical attacks
- Attribute: Perfect Vigour
Troths[ | ]
Troths are available to Bretonnian Prophetesses, and serve as their version of the Vow mechanic.
Troth of Protection
- Pledge to Knowledge: Research 5 technologies while leading an army
- Pledge to Order: Be present in a region 5 times when a building completes construction
- Pledge to Chivalry: Rank up five times after taking the pledge
Rewards:
- Upkeep greatly reduced for: Knights Errant, Knights of the Realm, Pegasus Knights
- Leadership aura size: +25%
- Untainted: +3 (local province)
Troth of Wisdom
Rewards:
- Upkeep greatly reduced for: Questing Knights (Lord's army)
- Winds of Magic power reserve: +10 (Lord's army)
- Campaign movement range: +10%
Troth of Virtue
Rewards:
- Upkeep greatly reduced for: Grail Knights, Grail Guardians, Royal Pegasus Knights, Royal Hippogryph Knights (Lord's army)
- When normally killed in battle, this Lord will be wounded instead
