Description

The High Priest of the Cult of Sigmar is the Grand Theogonist, and beneath him are his two Arch Lectors - grim, imposing figures, both on and off the battlefield. As the Emperor is believed to be the living incarnation of Sigmar, all Electors may cast a vote to decide who is crowned the next ruler of the Empire, though they may not ever become Emperor themselves. In these dark times, where the curse of Undeath and the worship of Chaos infest the Empire, it is the duty of Arch Lectors to protect the populace and cast out such evils. They epitomise the warrior courage of Sigmar himself, leading from the front where they manifest the power of the gods and inspire whole armies to acts of heroism.

Essentially a beefed up Warrior Priest, the Arch Lector is a strong support unit and melee combatant in his own right. On his horse he specializes in riding with other heavy cavalry like Reiksguard or Demigryph Knights, picking key engagements to pick off high value enemy units. Knowing when to use which ability is a key element of this unit being effective.

In comparing the Lector to the Warrior priest, one would expect the Lector to be better in almost every way. This is generally true, the Lector receives slight stat boosts across the board. However, he loses 15 melee attack in exchange for 25 more melee defence when compared to the priest. This makes him much more defensive and makes the priest seem more offensive (Lector also has a small amount less armour-piercing damage and charge bonus). This is good to keep in mind, as it means that even though they have the same abilities, they have slightly different specialties on the battlefield.
