Almost since the founding of The Empire, restless nobles, pirates and dissidents have been drawn over the Black Mountains to the Border Princes region seeking fortune, fame and land. Mostly what they find is death, but a few are able to carve out small feifdoms of their own, if only for a time. The region is rich and fertile but highly unstable, with armies of all stripes periodically sweeping through to loot and occupy what they can.
The eastern half of the Border Princes Confederacy sits just across the Black Gulf from The Badlands, making it a highly tempting target to any Greenskin warlord building momentum. Only the Dwarfen stronghold of Barak Varr and the rich trading hub of Akendorf stand between them and the southern entrance of the Empire.
