The humble shepherdess who once saved Bretonnia is a champion of the peasantry, bechosen of the Lady, and an inspirational leader of Knights.

Repanse de Lyonesse is a Couronne Bretonnia Legendary Lord unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with the Potion of Speed Update as a free DLC. In the campaign, she leads the Chevaliers de Lyonesse Chevaliers de Lyonesse.

Description[ | ]

Repanse was born in 1990 IC and grew up as a humble and devoutly religious shepherdess in Lyonesse. In 2007 IC, a Chaos horde invaded, besieged the city of Couronne and slew King Louis the Brave as he fought in its defence. Chaos raiders soon spread out across the land, burning and destroying. At this dark moment, amid the smoking ruins of her own village, Repanse saw the Lady of the Lake, who told her to rid the land of these invading forces. Repanse donned armour from a slain Knight, grabbed the reins of a terrified warhorse, then broke open the reliquary of the village Grail Chapel and took up its ancient sword. Snatching a tapestry with the Fleur de Lys to use as a banner, she rode forth to rally the disheartened Knights of Lyonesse. When the Knights saw a mere Damsel bravely setting off to do battle with the mighty warriors of Chaos, they were shamed and felt honour-bound to follow her to death or glory. That day, Couronne was saved and the enemy were pursued to the sea and justly put to death. In gratitude, King Louis the Young bestowed upon Repanse not only all the honours of Knighthood, but also the dukedom of Lyonesse.

  • Infantry sword great Greatsword Infantry
  • Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Modifier icon armour piercingArmour-Piercing damage.
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of Modifier icon armour piercingarmour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Anti-Infantry: Anti-infantry units have an advantage against targets that are smaller than a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against small targets, superior weight used to smash through lighter enemies, or an explosive attack from range that effects a large area.

Strategy[ | ]

In the Eye of the Vortex campaign, the faction does not seek to influence the vortex, and therefore does not engage in the race for control of it. Instead, the campaign is focused on gathering Chivalry and banishing undead factions.

In battle:

  • Repanse can effectively carve through infantry thanks to her sizable bonus versus them, ap attacks, and high armour.
  • She can be especially effective against foot lords once she has her sword thanks to its in-built Heroic Killing Blow that also gives her an absurd boost to her melee attack.
  • Her Halo of Maidenly Wrath ability deals decent damage against low-armour units, but is most effective at knocking back infantry to allow Repanse to withdraw.

In campaign:

  • Repanse can unlock the Grail Vow early, which grants magical attacks and perfect vigour.
  • Since you also start with Henri le Massif, who can also unlock the Grail Vow quickly, early game Tomb Kings armies will be no problem, since no Tomb King infantry will be able to get a solid hit on either of them.
  • The bonuses Repanse gives to peasant units ensures that they will remain a key part of her army, allowing them to stay competitive with most mid-to-late game enemies.
  • The unique banners Repanse can unlock should be some of your first priorities due to how strong they are and their ability to allow units to punch up even when outnumbered... and you will always be outnumbered against the Tomb Kings! Even on lower difficulties it is not uncommon to be outnumbered five-to-one against stacks of skeletons.
