Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

This template doesn't match the fields we see on the actual unit pages. There are a ton of additional fields with niche information that isn't being displayed in any way - what's going on here? I assume they're just being autogenerated from a data file? Meanwhile a basic stat like Speed isn't being displayed. Does anyone have a plan to fix this stuff? The idea was to dump all the data from the game's files onto the wiki and then expand the template as time would permit. As you can see, time is not a luxury we had. 【Tagaziel】 23:41, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
Gotcha. I'd be happy to go through and update some missing stats - for example unit speed. Do you happen to know why the speed field isn't being displayed? There seems to be a problem with the template. Edit: Oh, I see it was just commented out. I'll get to work. :) Robostove (talk) 01:24, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
Added speed stats to all the basic Bretonnia, Beastmen & Dark Elves unit pages. (Not lords or RoRs) If anyone else wants to pitch in you just need to go to the template page for the units and add speed=whatever.Robostove (talk) 03:07, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Speed stat question[]

So I've been manually adding in the speed stat to each unit's general template, but I realize that this will be overridden if we pull stats from the game files again. It seems odd to me that unit speed isn't present in the general or main templates. Anyone know where speed is actually defined in the database so we could do this automatically? I'll keep adding speed manually for now, but please let me know if we can pull the stats from somewhere in case I'm wasting time here! Robostove (talk) 18:16, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

Found it! Unit speed is in the battle_entities_tables folder of db. Also includes a ton of info that we probably don't need... but some other useful stuff as well. Walk speed, run speed, charge speed (guess we need to figure out how to convert those to the 'Speed' stat seen in-game). Also includes fire arcs, specific unit mass, flight speed which could all be useful things to display on the wiki. I propose including battle_entity information templates alongside the main, general and weapon templates we already have. If we included the entities we could generate all stat info automatically and accurately once we get the templates ready for the new stats. Robostove (talk) 19:31, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
Converting the database speed to in-game speed is just multiplying the db speed by 10. (Use flight speed if it flies, run speed otherwise). Kind of an interesting note is that I found cases where the displayed in-game speed is actually wrong. War Wagons and War Wagons (Mortars) are listed in game as both having 66 speed, but in the database War Wagons have 6.6 speed (66) and the mortar variant has 5.0 speed (50). Sure enough, when I raced them in a little test, the regular variant is noticeably faster. So pulling from the actual database values, this wiki will actually be *more* accurate than the in-game statistics! Robostove (talk) 20:54, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

Minor Formatting Changes[]

I fixed an extra break that was keeping the resistance values from being aligned with the other ones. I also shortened 'Resistance' to 'Resist' to make things fit into a single row (Physical Resistance was too long). I think it looks better. Robostove (talk) 00:02, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
