The Curse of Kurnous is a unique dilemma for the Dark Elves race introduced in Total War Warhammer II and part of the loyalty game mechanic. The name of the lord that triggered this event is displayed under the dilemma name.

The player is given four choices with differing bonuses and effects, namely:

  • Moderate instant money lump sum in exchange for a small loyalty cut and wounding the lord
  • Huge instant money lump sum in exchange for a moderate temporary all lords loyalty loss chance
  • Moderate instant experience lump sum for the lord
  • Minor temporary favoured corruption and public order bonuses for all owned regions in exchange for a small instant money payment

In-game description[ | ]

Naggarothi politics are devious and deadly. One of your Lords has fallen victim to a plot by rivals seeking to claim his wealth and titles. Treason is the charge but during the trial the case falls apart. The other Lords in the room shuffle around uneasily, avoiding your wrathful gaze. What is your sentence?

Requirements[ | ]

  • Player is a Dark Elves faction
  • Player has a lord with high loyalty (10)

Trigger timing[ | ]

  • As soon as all requirements are met there is a random chance chance the dilemma will trigger immediately.

Options[ | ]

Option 1: Proclaim the accused guilty[ | ]

  • Character wounded: < lord with high loyalty >
  • Loyalty: -2
  • Treasury: +2500

What's the point of having a trial if there's no punishment to be meted out? Have the accused dragged to the torture chamber at once and stripped of any 'valuable possessions'!

Option 2: Punish everyone![ | ]

  • Punish everyone!
    • Turns remaining: 6
    • On turn start, Lords have a chance to gain -2 loyalty (all characters)

They are all guilty of wasting your time, so all of them shall face your wrath! Unless each pays their weight paid in gold... before the sun sets!

Option 3: Lecture them on law[ | ]

  • Bonus experience: +2000 for < lord with high loyalty >

The most important rule is of course, that you are the law. If they want to win a case, they should try harder to entertain next time!

Option 4: Call for a feast[ | ]

  • Call for a feast
    • Turns remaining: 8
    • Owning faction's favoured corruption: +2
    • Public order: +3 (all provinces)
  • Treasury: -1000

Politics are boring and this farce of a trial isn't even remotely amusing. This case is dismissed, let's have a feast instead!

Strategy[ | ]

  • It pays off to improve lord loyalty and keep it high as this dilemma can provide a variety of bonuses and effects which can support your campaign strategy.
  • High loyalty dilemmas are triggered only once per lord so it may be helpful to consider how your choice fits in with your long term strategy.
